Key Stage 2 (KS2) encompasses Years 3 to 6, typically for children aged 7 to 11. It is a crucial phase in a child’s educational journey, as it builds upon the foundational skills acquired in Key Stage 1 and prepares students for secondary education.

Subjects Covered in KS2:

The KS2 curriculum is diverse and comprehensive, encompassing both core and foundation subjects

English: Enhancing reading comprehension, writing techniques, and speaking and listening skills through a variety of texts and creative tasks.

Mathematics: Deepening understanding in number, calculations, geometry, and measurements, with an emphasis on problem-solving and reasoning.

Science: Encouraging inquiry into the natural world through hands-on experiments, fostering a spirit of exploration and critical thinking.

History and Geography: Expanding knowledge of significant historical events and geographical concepts, instilling a sense of identity and environmental awareness.

Art, Design & Technology: Promoting creativity through artistic expression and practical projects that encourage innovation.

Religious Education (RE): Cultivating an understanding of diverse beliefs and values, promoting respect and empathy.

The Importance of SATs

At the end of Year 6, students participate in SATs (Standard Assessment Tests), which assess their proficiency in Reading, Mathematics, and, in some cases, Grammar and Spelling. These assessments not only provide valuable feedback on student progress but also ensure readiness for the next stage of their educational journey. SATs play a key role in identifying areas of strength and improvement, helping to guide further learning and development.
